Mesoamerica (where North and South America meet) has been the home to many civilisations including the Olmecs, the Maya, the Toltecs and the Aztecs. Ancient Aztec religion was a very complex interaction of gods, dates, directions and colours. It seems that most of the fascination in the religion had to do with fear of the nature, and perhaps a fear of the end of the world. [Ancient Aztec Religion 2014] . The Aztecs were the last to arrive in Mesoamerica, coming in from the north in around 1200AD. Many ancient Mesoamerican words, customs and beliefs survive today, as well as hand painted books, mysterious ruins and amazing treasures. Each culture had their own language, laws, traditions and skills, but there were also links between each of them. Each culture built big cities and organised long-distance trade. They worshipped the same family of gods and all practiced human sacrifice. Unlike other ancient American people, they measured time using their own holy calendar of 260 days.
